Community Tasting Notes 5

June 23, 2015 - AP#05. Library release. Pale yellow. Immediately forthcoming nose of verbena, lemongrass, talc, brown spices, gooseberries, red currants, rhubarb - all things bright, fresh and mildly sweet. Fresh, zippy, singing acidity leads the palate, followed by bright citrus, lemon Starburst, quince, almost a green tea sort of note, this is dryish, reserved, even austere, with a very long, bitter-noted finish that provides lift and levity. Nothing tropical here, this is a streamlined, understated, superbly delineated, subtly nuanced beauty. A Picasso of a wine - just the bare essential lines and elements, which allow the essentially rich aliveness to shine through. Brilliant! Easily another decade in hand, but not sure there's much upside (though I could be very wrong about that here).

April 15, 2011 - Lovely wine in a great place right now- dried apricots, honey, river stone, slight petrol and lemon.
Full mouthfeel with tons of depth and nice backbone. This is drinking great now and will go for
several more years without falling off.

April 8, 2011 - Sushi and vino (Sai Cafe, Chicago, IL): nose: extremely aromatic and deep with tones of petrol, granny smith apples, pears, papaya, fig tones and a good amount of peaches as well. The tones jumped out of the glass with great balance as well

taste: deep and layered medium feel with medium/high acidity and plush tones of petrol, granny smith apples, pears, dried figs, and lots of peaches. Very suave and complete on the palate with a great mid-palate and finish as well

overall: This was great. So well balanced with great depth and layers of tones on both the nose and palate. The acidity was still a bit pronounced but it wasn't overwhelming at all. This doesn't seem like it's going anywhere for a long time

October 30, 2007 - Brought to a dinner at Fora. Wonderfully big appley citrusy nectarine nose. Bright palate showing some lime with strong tart acidity though more balanced with some integrated sweetness than the last bottle. In a great place right now. This disappeared in a hurry. Excellent!

June 18, 2007 - Notes of petrol and sweet tarts on nose. Very strong tart acidity on the palate. Not for everyone but most of the party thought it was excellent. Wish I had more.
