January 1, 2023 - Very oxidative style, or perhaps this bottle was a little over the hill. Lots of nice yeasty baked good notes but a bit of an unbalanced, sour finish. Interesting but not super enticing. Will hold remaining bottle for a few more years. (Disgorged 2015)

July 16, 2021 - This pours light straw in the glass. The nose is moderately intense and fairly low complexity, showing fresh baked pastry, toasted wheat, vanilla wafer, lemon curd, and fresh green apple. The palate is light, and elegant, with seemingly low dosage. I'd call this about 4 g/l, with sharp, medium plus, citrusy acid. The finish feels a tad clipped. I purchased this based on William Kelley's review calling it krug-like. Not so with this particular bottle. Sadly after a fairly thorough inspection I don't see any indication of disgorgement date to identify this by. This was a fairly recent purchase so I'd expect a fairly recent disgorgement.

February 17, 2019 - From the 2015 disgorgement. I had not had this bottle before, so I wanted to give it a go even if it might be a little on the early end. To be clear, it was too early. However, the wine improved steadily over the course of 5 hours. It opened up nicely to reveal fresh notes of citrus and toast. There was good acidity and a nice bead that maintained with each fresh pour from the bottle. I think this wine will develop nicely over the next 5 years.

2011 Champagne Catalog, 6/1/2011 (link)(NV Jean Milan "Grand Réserve 1864" Brut) ($86.00) The idea was to offer a Champagne in the old way, vinified in oak and on the lees a long time, to create complex secondary flavors. It’s a blend of ‘00/’01. The first bottle I tasted could have been Salon; it was that good. Since then I have had odd bottles, so-so bottles and other wonderful bottles. This bottle, having just been disgorged, was promising but unknit.
