October 5, 2010 - Club de Dégustation GLP: 87% Carmenere, Didnt get the greeness or tomato scent often present in Chilean wines. Nice fruit, no strong oak (9 months in french oak) is apparent. Nice balance. The best of the flight by far.

August 28, 2010 - A simple, but interesting wine that I serve as a house alternative to merlot.

April 11, 2010 - Technically sound, but thin on the palate and generally just a dull, boring wine.

February 1, 2010 - Many people still consider Carmenere a blending grape but after a recent visit to Chile and the opportunity to taste some of these, I've opened up to the idea of them on their own. I wouldn't serve it with beef but it goes very well with pizza, certain chicken dishes and even some heavier fish. The Calina 2008 is a very moderate wine, very drinkable and great with a simple meal. Very little tannins with nice fruit and on the lighter side body-wise. An excellent value in the $9 range. If you consider price and value, you could raise this rating to 85.
