November 2, 2009 - Wow, was this an upside surprise! Recommended to me by one of my best retailers, but I was just thinking it would be a nice value wine. Turns out it's a great wine AND they're practically giving it away. I only bought a singleton in a case over five months ago and just now opened it to have with a Panda Express take out meal. I can only hope they still have more.
It is a brilliant golden color. The nose shows loads of peach, pear, and wet gravel. Underneath there are periodic notes of banana, beeswax, tangerine peel, and furniture polish. It is quite full bodied, lusciously mouth-coating. The palate flavors echo the aromas in a vibrant and harmonious manner, adding some green apple on the finish, which is nervy and tight.
This would be great on a restaurant list as a value selection. At $12 this is an insanely good QPR chenin blanc from Saumur. Best out of a smaller glass.
