April 14, 2022 - Note: I use the recommended scale, so 85 represents a very good wine.
I was genuinely surprised by this bottle -- it was outstanding from beginning to end. Full rich, perfectly balanced. Picture perfect S. Rhone.

January 25, 2019 - My last of 4 bottles purchased in 2009, should not have waited this long - DOA.

May 25, 2013 - Drinking well now. If you like rustic Rhone wines of Provence you will like this one. A good sound Vacqueyras.

March 11, 2012 - Not nearly as good as the last bottle. Past it's prime, perhaps?

November 7, 2011 - Earthy, bitter chocolate, dry, plum and grape skins, red currant and plum fruit on the finish. A very nice food wine, but is still challenging to taste by itself. Probably could have gone many years longer, but hong long do you age a $12 bottle........?

(Mas du Bouquet (Caractere) VACQUEYRAS) Vacqueyras Dear Friends, As a Chëteauneuf-du-Pape alternative, you would be hard pressed to go wrong with this structured and serious wine. There's not a lot to say - Vignerons de Caractere were well-represented in Josh Raynolds' review from a few days ago and this wine (from 50-80 year old vines) will age like a top Southern Rhone - it is not a near-term, easy-going Cotes du Rhone. For the price, it makes one wonder why the discrepancy is so vast between the best examples of Vacqueyras and the best Chëteauneuf-du-Pape. Certainly the track record for ageing justifies the price of many CdP, but this wine will last for years and it's less than $12? A Rhone-lovers everyday delight...if you can wait 3-5 more years: ONE PARCEL ONLY at this price (about the same as in Avignon) with perfect provenance: 2005 Domaine Mas du Bouquet (Vignerons de Caractere) Vacqueyras Thank you, Jon Rimmerman Garagiste Seattle, WA Rhone8780
