January 24, 2023 - This is disjoint on opening, becoming more harmonious after 2 hours. Initially, the nose is more interesting while a touch of RS is presently in minor disagreement with acid structure & tannins. Far from old or tired but may need 3-5 more years to integrate completely.

July 3, 2022 - Leather and stewed fruit, gasoline/menthol on the nose. On the palate plumb and cherry fruit almost a bit stewed and bright currant undertone . Like a late summer bowl of fruit that sat out until just over ripe . Longer it sits open, seems the fruit opens up more, which is usually a positive, but in this case it accentuates some weird sweetness.. However, tannins and acid are in harmony through to the finish that is long. I thought the sweetness was a bit much, and would have scored higher if it didn’t have that. At least one reviewer mentioned it seemed like a baby Amarone, but I think it’s actually more like a Ripasso in style due to this sweetness.
Despite the sweetness, I don’t agree with other reviewer‘s that this one needs to be drunk soon. I think it one will become more nuanced and perhaps improve for several more years.
Overall enjoyable, but seems more a “dark of winter” style wine that might go well with heavy cheeses. I of course opened this with a nice bowl of beef barley soup in the summer, and it was just too sweet for that. -

October 6, 2018 - Almost sweet. Like an Amarone in a way - a little less cigar box.

December 30, 2017 - Dark wine that is brown at the edges. Would have thought this was an Amarone. The aroma is fig and dark cherries and a bit of old fashioned fruit cake. The palate is jammy black fruit, blackberry pie and coffee.

May 20, 2017 - Very like an Amarone. Deep and expressive and rich.
