September 18, 2023 - Non-chardonnay white wine (Craig's yard): The group agreed that this drank like a beernauslese. Of course, that is very uneven according to the producer. Anyway, honeyed and rich without being cloying. Slight tropical fruit but mostly melon and peach.

May 18, 2020 - It's been 9 years since I've had Müller-Catoir's Rieslaner. Too hot for a red today and this was handy so I thought I'd give it a go. Light gold with some green highlights. Sweet spice on the nose. Clove, just slightly overripe tropical fruits, mandarin oranges, peach and mango. Much the same on the palate. Sweet and rich, but by no means cloying as there is acidity to keep it fresh. There's a creamy aspect to the texture. Good length and a finish that has a bitter marmalade note at the very end. This isn't profound, but it's a great drink. I could've finished the bottle in one sitting without any trouble, but I poured off half to drink tomorrow. Age has certainly improved this wine. Lots of fun, outstanding, and a spectacular match with my banh mi.

March 16, 2019 - Intense golden. Nearly same notes as in June 2017, but with tropical fruits, predominantely mango, playing the main part now. This is going to be on a positive evolutionary track for a decade or maybe more in a cool cellar. 5/12/18/9, -2028.

June 11, 2017 - Deep golden. Apricot, hints of pineapple, other tropical fruits and oranges with some medicinal, herbal notes, all more notible on the viscous oily palate, the nose is more simple. Quite sweet with botrytis it is just balanced with metallic acidity. Nevertheless because of its concentration, unbelievable length combined with just enough complexity to keep it interesting, it is clearly outstanding to me. This is fully mature, but will hold through one decade in a cool cellar.

June 16, 2014 - Leo's Blind Tasting Group - June '14 edition (Riverpark, NYC): Fun, but not as complex as other bottles I had right on release. Lots of ripe, sweet apricot and tropical fruit tinged with fiery spice, faint burnished notes and honey. This has the sweetness and density of a ripe Auslese, but there's great acidity beneath as well to keep it nicely balanced.
