January 30, 2012 - Big oak and alcohol. This may be past its prime, but still a nice dry, austere wine for a snooty cheese fiesta!

December 27, 2011 - Mellowed from last time I popped a cork on this vintage (July 2010), but still some great veggies. They are more in the background now, and so the whole thing is now wonderfully integrated. I have one more of these left, and look forward to opening it sometime in 2013.

April 13, 2011 - This wine’s aroma is a complex mélange of ripe red fruit and pleasant green tones. Red currant, cranberry, and red cherries dominate, while jalapeno jelly and green bell pepper tones play in the background. Cocoa powder and faint hints of caramel open up with a spin in the glass.

The palate is ripe and well structured, with medium intensity tannins and fresh acidity. Red currant, red cherry, and potting soil show initially, fading into pleasant cacao powder and caramel tones. An interesting streak of jalapeño jelly rolled in black pepper shows on the edges, along with a very faint hint of dried wildflowers toward the finish. This is a nicely complex wine that brings together the ripeness of California fruit and the traditional green and black flavors that this varietal shows so beautifully in the Old World. A very solid effort.

March 12, 2011 - A decent enough wine - some fruit, reasonably smooth. But not very complex.

August 23, 2010 - Big acid. Needs cheese or chocolate or a nice steak.
