December 22, 2023 - Tasted while smoking a Rocky Patel 60... Extremely thick almost waxy, on the palette it is light with a candied raisins profile. Not alot of acidity on the mouth. Very interesting bottle, especially considering the $19 purchase price. The method of placing the grapes on mats to dry in the sun reminds me of an amarone, and I can't help but think that helps the concentration, thus giving it that syrupy consistency. I still would prefer Port with a good cigar FWIW.

July 26, 2022 - Toffee, dried apricots, dried dates, and toasted almonds in an intriguing combination. Unctuous, rich textures with easily enough viramt acidity to keep it bright as well. More of a “winter” wine than a “summer” wine, but this was a great value for he <$10 paid shortly after release.

June 5, 2019 - Well, this stuff seems to live forever. I found this in the cellar and thought I'd try it. You have to be in the mood for such a sweet, rich, thick wine, but with a chill it's a fun, sticky ride (B+/A-)!

January 24, 2016 - Fig, raisin, carmelized sugar, prune/plum, and a bit of maple syrup - although the maple syrup might be emphasized in my head because of the texture / unctuousness. There seemed to be roasted nuts deep in the background. It has the alcohol presence of a vintage Port on the nose and palate. All these factors combined make for a very unusual experience. Frankly, I wouldn't drink this without pairing it with some kind of dessert. Vanilla ice cream did the trick - this is like an adult-only topping. I have 2 bottles of 2011 left, and they'll sit on the rack for years. I hope this gets better over the course of a few days. If so, I'll edit this note.

EDIT: it did get a little better with a few days in the fridge. Upgrading the score by a point to reflect this.

June 13, 2015 - Lots of dried apricot and fig aromas and flavors with nice caramelization. Starts with great intensity, finishes slightly less intense. Extreme sweetness I recall from shortly after release has softened. Better now. Great with fruit tart. Ridiculous value wine at release price.
