May 26, 2018 - Only minor seepage on the cork at about 25% which for a 10-1/2 year old wine was impressive. Apparently this is made from “vine dried” grapes which are very ripe, shriveled, and concentrated when picked prior to crush, then fermented dry.

Poured into a chilling carafe to allow it to settle. As I expected this showed a clear, very deep gold color, with hints of amber starting to develop. Fully developed and complex aromatics displaying mostly tertiary notes: honey, roasted nuts, dried, spicy ginger, sweet caramel, browning apple core, and extremely overly ripe yellow pear. Slightly off-dry with just a touch of perceptible sweetness. Full bodied and medium alcohol. Complex, medium plus flavors of dried ginger, roasted nuts, sweet honey, caramel, and dried yellow apple and pear. Very rich and “fat” mouthfeel, with medium minus acidity. In spite of the lower acidity, there is stil a medium finish mostly from the complex flavors.

A couple of points: this is a very mature white wine made in a interesting style. Very good to outstanding, if you like aged whites and understand the aging development process and resulting aromatic and flavor profile. Best enjoyed with food like aged cheeses, or low acid foods.

October 16, 2011 - Medium straw color, with white floral, honeycomb and mineral aromas. The palate is on the lighter side of medium-bodied, with a medium finish and average depth of fruit. Leaner than the '06 and less intense than the '08, I would not buy this vintage again, but certainly recommend the bottling, having enjoyed it consistently since the 2004 offering. Drink thru 2015, score: B

    October 14, 2011 - Drinks a bit off-dry. Works best with food.

March 4, 2011 - A brief supplement to my note below: this wine was markedly more enjoyable with king salmon than it was on its own.

March 4, 2011 - A little oaky on the nose and in the mouth for my tastes, but a solid choice for seafood.

(MONTE GRANDE Pra Soave) Pra Dear Friends, We've had excellent feedback to the 2007 Pra Soave "Staforte" that we offered earlier in the year so here's the big brother - the cru Monte Grande. Typically, this wine achieves a Chassagne-like texture with stone and terroir rolling alongside a supple mid-palate and the 2007 vintage takes this to a place that was much like 2007 in Burgundy - more classic in style (versus the 2006 Monte Grande which was quite rich but still very well made). If you are a fan of Inama's Du Lot cuvee, this wine will prove once again how strong Garganega can be when the vintage cooperates and the goal is world class quality. The 2007 Monte Grande was Antonio Galloni's highest rated Soave of the vintage: ONE SHIPMENT ONLY at this price: 2007 Pra Soave Classico Superiore "Monte Grande" Thank you, Jon Rimmerman Garagiste Seattle, WA Italy7478
