  January 27, 2023 - Clinging on by its fingernails although not entirely without a certain supple charm. Gentle dark fruits lilt along but this has one foot firmly in six feet of mushroomy earth. A welcome contrast to the rest of the flight but hard not to conclude that this is now a few stubbies short of a six-pack.

Decanted with normal sediment for its age. Darker purple with hint of amber edge; very mature red fruit nose, very ripe plums that follow on the palate, some barnyard, good mouthfeel. Tasty and pleasant enough but tired, missing any lively fruit. Not a flaw, just age, I think. Stored horizontally in a cool, dark basement since purchase. My evaluation: For me, scores on a "100-point scale" are misleading. I use a 4-category scale (perhaps with +/-)--not including flawed--which runs outstanding/notable/drinkable/poor. This is notable when considering quality, age, and price.

  August 28, 2016 - Found this jewel at a restaurant in Argentina, from the time they imported wines. I was worried it could have passed it's time, but it has not! Absolutely delicious mature wine. A pity I didn't bought the second bottle he had...

  December 24, 2015 - Still very much alive. Nice clarity and nose of ripe cherries, gentle spice and a touch of cedar. Palate follows with a silky texture layers of ripe berries and spice box, smoky lingering finish.
