September 3, 2023 - What a difference from the previous bottle! 🥳💪💪💪💪💪
In this btl, with an almost perfect cork, there is acidity, fresh red fruits, beautiful leather, some small oak and an amazing balance. This is otherworldly. An outlier that makes the case in point: maturing wine is fantastic!
Not a single hint of oxidization. No hateful dill.
Sheer, pure satisfaction in a bottle. And ... gone! -

December 7, 2022 - A Good Tuesday, Vol VIII: Lopez de Heredia and Friends: Faustino Gran Reservas just keep on keeping on. I don;t think I've ever had a bad one from the 70s or 80s. Fully resolved. Mature. But acid and fruit to keep it trucking. Great with food.

January 16, 2022 - Consumed on our 40th anniversary, the wine having been made in the year of our wedding. Yes, it was beyond its prime, but it had a dignity and grace from a genuine integration of its elements. The perfect metaphor for our life together.

March 19, 2021 - Mature Rioja online tasting (Online): Not my cup of tea.
Far too low acids. However, it is still insanely good and complex. Rich and, unfortunately, flabby. Does not even do well with cold cuts. Suitable for mild goat cheese that is not fat. No a typical classic Rioja.
Before 2 glasses I was exhausted, poured out the rest. -

January 15, 2021 - Opened at Italian ristorante for anniversary dinner (married in 1982). Surprisingly fresh fruit of raspberries and cherries with smoky notes of leather and subtle cinnamon. Tannins fully integrated for a long silky finish. No bricking at all! A stunning wine for 39 years of age. One more left; will wait for next years anniversary.
