July 25, 2020 - Wonderful! Fruit is still fresh with just hints of age on this wine. More leather and the fruit is more integrated but cassis and blackberry still stand out. While this is still an unmistakably California wine it’s not far off from a good Bordeaux. I’m going to contact my friend John Alan Ford and see if there are any of the older Meritage and Van Sauvignon’s left and get my hands in as many as I can!

October 6, 2010 - This did not age well. Complexity was not there and it turned kind of sour.

October 28, 2009 - Cocoa and leather flavors make a ripe, rich and fruity red seem dry and refined. On the sweeter end there is plum, brown sugar, fruit punch and a hint of bubble gum. I admire the this wine, very ripe fruit and sweet characteristics, but it still has discipline.

September 17, 2009 - Very nice wine. Walks a great line (for my palate) between ripe fruit and some sense of balance/complexity of flavors.
