June 9, 2010 - After drinking the 2007 Croteaux Merlot 3 Clone, we were not looking forward to this wine, but we actually enjoyed it a lot. The Merlot 3 underwent malolactic fermentation which really softened it a bit too much. The 314 was steel fermented and retained a lot more of the acidity and crispness which I think works a lot better here. Nice strong minerality upfront, cantaloupe on nose and palate. Very crisp, nice finish. A nice summer wine, not as dull as the Merlot 3.
