January 16, 2022 - Drank alongside a few older French wines, and this did not stick out like a sore thumb, which surprised everyone. Lots of primary fruit, it seemed quite young. Although 15.9%, it came across as balanced. And, the extra aging gave it a slightly more viscous mouthfeel. Wish I had more than one bottle, as I’d love to try it in another 15 years.

September 22, 2020 - Gave a bottle along with a bottle of 2002 Radio-Coteau Hellenthal to Michael and Kathleen, next door neighbors on Meadowcroft in San Anselmo for Michael helping with green garbage cans to help us remove debris.

September 12, 2020 - Opened the bottle and was immediately hit with a waft of alcohol. It needed to sit in the glass for an hour to allow the mouthful of fruit to present itself. Had it with roast chicken. Wonderful.

June 25, 2020 - Classic Saxum. Rich fruit, but with balance and complexity. Just a delight to drink.

February 28, 2018 - Pop and pour, unfair, I know. In the glass, saturated, opaque purplish-red, looks just bottled. On the nose, explosive raspberries and blueberries, with background notes of violet, already intimating what you know is coming on the palate - fruit galore, but as with seemingly all of Saxum's bottlings, somehow this avoids crossing over into pure fruit bomb territory, with just enough minerality. Still, the lasting impression is of dense, thick fruit married to a very smooth texture, with no sign of age. I think I should have left this alone for at least another 10 years...
