December 11, 2009 - Too cold for drinking at the moment but not a bad very light white. Good for the price.

August 22, 2009 - Unoaked Grenache/Carignan Blend from Priorat made by Carles Escolar at under $20 a bottle. Nose - ironically i get a hint of oak. It goes to show you that nothing is really straightforward with wine. Actually the nose is more of ham, which I attribute to the smoked oak. A bit of heat on the nose as well. No fruit or anything like that. Mouth - a tad disjointed, perhaps due to its young age. A vigorous swoosh in the mouth brings out some of the minerality that this region is known for. I am also getting a little of the ham thing on the palate. If blinded I might guess it to be a young zinfandel with some minerality. Perhaps it will improve in the bottle. I find it hard to recommend even at this price.
