February 4, 2023 - Dominated by cloying sweetness of apricot jam and thick honey on day one. Burnt sugar and orange rind candy expand on the palate with hints of floral and acidic freshness keeping this from devolving into syrup.

After a full day of air, the refined elements of maturing citrus peel, dried prunes/dates start to take over. The wine starts showing a bit more class and is able to better utilize its strong acidity.

This would be fun to age - though the prices out there give me pause on whether I want to pursue such an experiment.

March 17, 2020 - Very sweet with flavors of apricots, peach pit and lanolin, but it looked as if it were burnt butter and olive oil. Definitively not what I expected, but not horrible either. Far too expensive for what it is.

September 20, 2014 - Charleston III - the Weekend; 9/18/2014-9/20/2014 (Charleston SC - various locations incl. Red Drum, Halls, Circa 1886, and Kings Courtyard Inn): I've said it before and I'll say it again, SQN dessert wines are not for the faint of heart. This had more white grape flavors than I am used to. Great orange zest as well. Just fantastic wine. The acidity comes in right at the right time to pull it back from the edge. We have an '08 and I'm looking forward to it.

August 16, 2014 - From a half bottle. Pale golden colour. This is fabulous vin de paille. Tons of marzipan and ripe apricot on the nose, with the same on the palate. Super intense and sweet, but there's definitely enough acidity here; this is never cloying, even for a second. Floral and orange peel notes on the palate and a bit of bitter almond on the finish keeps things interesting too. Loooooooooong.

May 26, 2014 - Birthday dinner for..............ME!!!!!!! (Cafe Med): Wow!! What a killer wine!! This thing looked so thick and rich when it was poured in the glass and it did not disappoint. I could see where some could see this being too sweet and not enough acidity but it rocked tonight to me. This was drank next to 2003 Yquem and this was the clearly my favorite of the two. Great with cream brûlée. A wonderful wine with so much sweetness but not cloying and over the top.
