  July 3, 2020 - Oh my God! This is the best red dessert wine I have ever tasted in my 47 years on earth. Not syrupy like port, it has a taste that does not rely on being unctuous but rather delivers milk chocolately sweetness with a smooth finish.

  February 29, 2020 - The Ravenswood Library Wines (M/M Blue Oval's): Very generous of M/M Blue Oval to share this little gem. Mixed red and black fruit has a sweet grapey note mixed in as well. Chambord, blueberry and sweet dark fruit with good underlying acidity. Sweet but never cloying, with a lingering finish. Terrific.

  June 3, 2018 - Vinetasters: Beaucastel (1979-2006) (Skokie, IL): Served double blind, from half bottle (and correctly identified, no less!). What a treat to have this brilliant wine again. To my palate, this is probably one of the best wines that SQN has ever made. This is a low-octane fruit bomb, with intense black fruit all over the place. Yes, it's straw wine, but it actually doesn't come off as particularly raisiny. The intense sweetness seems to be balanced more by the chalky tannins than anything else. Extremely complex and rich, but without the alcoholic heaviness.
