  August 18, 2011 - With supper of pan cooked chicken, lemon drizzled asparagus in balsamic, tomatoes and basil and mozzarella in balsamic vinagrette, and couscous. Bought this as end of bin special and although only currently 1 review, did not expect much. It was wrong and pleasantly so. This was a pretty good zin. Nose was pretty substantial and smelled thick somehow. Poured through Vinturi as I saw residue at top of bottle when uncorked. Legs almost never stopped running. Thick and full teardrop shaped, when the first wave reached the bottom, a new wave began its decent. Nice full bodied taste. I've had a few good zins and I can't really compare this to any of them. Almost tasted like a different variety, such as syrah or a blend. But really decent. Wife liked immediately. Cork stained light purple. This is drinking well now but could go perhaps another 2 years. From Rutherford? Really good area. Did notice tiny crystals on the cork once it had dried. Is that lactic acid? But the wine did not hold up well after 3 days in bottle. Got a funky smell and taste. But perhaps that was asking to much of this Zin.

  July 3, 2010 - 4th of July Weekend Zin Fest (The Wine Country, Signal Hill, CA): Not much at all on the nose. A lighter style of Zin with good Zin character. Nice balancing acidity and soft tannins to finish. Nice wine but nothing remarkable about it. A pass at $26.
