August 19, 2011 - Annual Pilgrimage to Chateau Lanessan (and its 200 year old cellar ); 8/19/2011-8/21/2011 (Chateau Lanessan, Bordeaux): Wine of the weekend. Straight from the family's own wine cellar and recorked maybe 30yrs ago. Fully bricked out in colour. We thought it was 50s wine. Alive still with lots of palate presence. The Fruit is on the way out but still some presence. A superb wine given it's age

Not sure how you are supposed to rate such a wine. Always a joy when you realise that its still drinking well after all these years. Bought from the chateau and kept still for 9 months, shoulder level.
Brick red colour showing all its age, a ton of ultafine sediment (becarefull when u decant and dont use a filter). More on the nose than the palate surprisingly with lots of fine notes. Light but present body. All in all a great experience and a great start to our wine event.
