March 9, 2018 - Montrachet and Musigny: Coconut, sultana, caramel, raspberry, redcurrant, cherry, tobacco and ash on the shifting, complex nose. Great texture on the palate, there is excellent balance between the sweet edges to the fruit and the alcohol that kicks through and amplifies the flavours. Excellent length. This was in fantastic condition and was a superb way to end an evening of superb wines.

Blind tasting with friends. #10 I was able to enjoy the 1975 thrice and the very first bottle already has been like an epiphany. It is difficult to describe the emotions these kind of wines can transport, when tasted, but looking into all those happily beaming faces of my fellow tasters affirmed my past experiences with this wine. After all these years, this wine still manages to offer a wonderful bouquet of Vieille Prune, cherries, old leather, dried fruits, red currants, rose water, violets, candied oranges and some humid wood. The palate is medium-bodied, with nearly resolved tannins and fresh acidity that leave an impression of an unexpectedly youthful wine, notes of dried orange peel, malty flavors, aged aceto balsamico, sweetish dried fruit, cherries, prunes, red currants, mushrooms, cloves, blonde tobacco and a lick of sugar candy. Very noble and with an unnoticeable abv of 15 %. A wine that has always managed to impart with a memorable impression so far. 98-99

November 18, 2010 - Fruit, gasoline and crushed raisins. Very sweet, with nice length. Held together by good acidity. (94)

November 13, 2010 - Transcribing this from an old degustation note of mine. Cork was completely intact. Served pnp. The wine appears quite matured, as one could expect, but not brittle and still far from dead. A kaleidoscope of aromas reminding me of all kind of dried fruits like prunes, dried figs and peaches and raisins, with bacon, morello cherries, leather, tobacco, smoke, spices and balsamic notes. Due to the wine’s high alcohol of 15+ % abv a slightly heaty finish, that doesn’t seem out of place, but somehow contributes to the wine’s balance instead. Still present and vivid acid with fine-grained, ripe and not yet fully resolved tannins. This wine is already 35 years old, but doesn’t appear tired at all. I’d rather wager, that this 75 has still some more years ahead of it. Absurdly long-lasting finish. An astonishing wine from the maestro himself, who unfortunately passed away in 2012. Wines like these help to make me understand as to why he became a living legend as a wine maker. Always demanding, his wines also seem to defy time and redefine their respective categories, whilst simply lacking any competition, except for dal Forno.

July 2, 2007 - Extraordinary! Very little residual suger, but tremendous body (sense of lots of glycerol) and unbelievable secondary characteristics. A great wine to contemplate slowly after a meal.
