February 1, 2020 - What happens to a modernist Barolo at age 30+? Lovely sweet fruit, reflects winemaker’s focus on ripeness and plush texture, but at the expense of the more mineral and earthy notes, and more assertive tannins, that mark more traditional winemaking.

September 16, 2019 - Lovely to drink right now. Not a profound Barolo, but very well made, with less of a modernist profile than might be expected. After 30 years the oak is well integrated and what stands out is a terrific and more classic older Nebbiolo profile.

January 23, 2018 - Medium to light red. Faint nose of peppermint and must. Sour apple and dried mushroom to taste with lingering charred wood on the finish. Not complex or deep though earthy and homey wine. In a good spot now.

September 25, 2014 - tasted like an overly oaked, too young, wine on night one, there was some body and some fruit but just felt young and the structure was in your face… on night two and three the structure settled down but unfortunately all other palate elements faded completely, frankly on nights two and three this tasted like oak water… not good, could have been a poorly cared for bottle but not clear

(Fratelli Seghesio Barolo Vigneto la Villa) Group's #3 (my #2) – 95 pts.; 2, 3, 8, 1 – earth, rainwater, mineral and coffee on the nose; rich, deep flavors of café au lait, and tart earthy fruit with mature tannins, good complexity; medium finish
