July 6, 2015 - Textbook aged Sangio. Dark, dusty cherry, very smoky, balsamic vinegar, bitter herbs, anise, a hint of dark chocolate and vanilla bean suggests very well-integrated oak. Trades fruit for complexity with aeration. Bright acid, tannin gives a nice grip in the mouth, good length. Very different stylistically and much more age-worthy than the darker, oakier, more extracted 1999 and 2001.

April 27, 2012 - Brunello 1990 Horisontal Tasting (@ Canan): Very impressive and complex nose. Initially there is pipe tobacco and crushed dried flowers and overall a very perfumed style. The nose also has a little tropical chewing gum..
I simply adored the complexity and intensity of the nose!
Sweet dark plum palate that is just extremely well-made. The age is starting to show a little bit with mushrooms and forest floor but still an incredible complexity on the palate also.
A crazy and very impressive wine! -

June 3, 2011 - BYO (Le Sommelier): Lovely elegant and mineral driven nose with some sewer and also cherry/red currant fruit.
Sweet cherry-like fruit on the palate and a beautiful elegance but still somewhat full bodied. Intense and still has plenty of fruit. -

September 3, 2009 - Cerretalto Vertical Tasting (Restaurant 1.TH (CPH)): The nose is very similar to the 88 but the fruit is significantly younger in the 90. It still has the same impressive elegance and freshness.
After having tasted the 88 it was almost unbelievable to get the 90 in the mouth. A amazingly elegant fruit with ditto acidity and the cherry fruit is still insanely fresh. The tannins are still powerful and together with the fresh fruit it seems like this wine could age for a lot longer. However, it is simply an amazing wine right now..
Of all the Cerretalto vintages from 88-04, this was definately WOTN for me.
Like the 88, the 90 did also not have any barrique influence.
