Community Tasting Notes 35

September 20, 2019 - Ripe back cherry aromas and flavors with savory, meaty spice and good weight. Not quite as fresh as two other bottles from earlier this year. Still very enjoyable in its fat, modern style.

August 25, 2019 - Ripe black fruit on nose and palate, still mostly fresh with some roasted meat and savory spice. Good+ weight and good length. Stated bright through 2+ hours open.

February 4, 2019 - Ripe black cherry and berry aromas and flavors with savory spice. Overall good balance. Aging very gracefully. I liked this more tonight vs when last tasted 4 years ago.

January 16, 2017 - Subsequent notes on this wine from 2 years ago. Medium-deep garnet in color with some clearing at the edges. Full, forward & attractive nose of complex & rich, ripe fruit aromas of red cherries, strawberries & plums with cherry-cola overtones & spices notes of cloves, herbs, earthy, minerals, vanilla & toasty oak in the background. Medium bodied with a very good concentration of well balanced & smooth textured, plush & complex, ripe fruit flavors of sweet cherries, strawberries & raspberries with spices, cherry-cola, herbs, earthy, minerals, some vanilla & toasty oak. Long lingering smooth finish. Drinks quite well at present & at 10 years of age, it may be at its apogee of development; I doubt any further development would occur from further aging.

September 16, 2015 - Identical to my last notes on 8/14/15: "cherry, strawberry, clove, roasted coffee, RRV cola, spice and cigar box from the oak. Smooth, elegant and rich in the mouth. Not big, but just right as far as body. Exceptional balance. ... A long smooth finish. At its drinking plateau." Too bad, the tenth and last bottle.
