  Tasted at the domaine, an outsanding example of wonderful wine making, humility, modesty, generosity and an astonishing generosity. If only all domaines could show a similar respect for their vineyards and obsession with quality. Truly memorable.
  
  And so were the Batards - wines you cannot buy as they are produced in such small quantity that they are only tasted in situ in the cellar. As the wines were similar, except in age, let me summarise, or try to. Both had quite high alcohol which was well covered. A huge nose of white flowers/honeysuckle, beeswax and honey, big and rich, but finishing with citrus length, and somehow, minerality. Chardonnay that manages to be both huge, complex and mineral. Bravo! It is difficult to score this, as I presume DRC Montrachet is even better, and this is a more powerful wine than say Leflaive. All in all truly splendid wine, and as you can see from the 95, one that ages gracefully (with no fears of premox!).
