Community Tasting Notes 31

August 31, 2022 - Had with grilled cheeseburgers and Cherokee purple tomatoes. Black fruits, lacking in complexity, some heat at the end of the bottle. Lots of sediment.

February 16, 2020 - Tannic and a bit hot. This is drinkable but messy. Mostly lacking in balance and poise. Pretty certain this will not get better.

    January 17, 2016 - Fading fast

August 3, 2014 - Smooth and enjoyable to drink. Fruit is faded but still has a nice density.

July 19, 2014 - Pretty much like others noted: rich and tasty, though not a lot of complexity. Better after a little air, but falls off after a while. 88-89

Sommelier Journal

    August 2008 (link)

(Blackbird Vineyards Proprietary Red) Pronounced tannins with noticeable, but balanced, acidity. Tart, with a pleasant current of dark chocolate, cacao, mocha, and tart plum, along with a touch of tobacco. Clearly a wine that will develop with age. Would benefit from decanting.
