February 15, 2024 - This wine had a long and moving story to tell over the course of 5 hours. In the beginning it was all about the nose. Too rough to drink at first . There was blood and sauvage like the smell of raw steak fresh from the butcher. Soon the underbrush and forest floor came into view, along w bright underripe cherry . By hour 2-3, a chorus of developing flavors of Maillard reaction (complemented by the seared ribeye,) blood orange, mineral, cooked game. By the end of the bottle it was simply a flash mob of different fruits- we called them out as we picked up new scents and flavors. Plus the long finish that went on and on. Was the last sip the best sip? It was the softest and most open to be sure. But this bottle was just as much about the journey as the destination. Brilliant and ethereal.

July 31, 2021 - Intoxicating stem and lychee aromatics - unmistakably Leroy that I so love. Structured, opulent, and exuberant. 380/1824.

July 2, 2020 - Abundant red fruit against a background of 2007 acidity and judicious use of stems. Pure. Sensual. A masterpiece. The tannins are very fine and completely integrated. 2007 is not a vintage of rich wines, but the best wines are sensual, have lots of energy, and are amazingly aromatic. The nose on this wine would convert anyone to Burgundy. Expensive! Bottle 98 out of 1824.

June 2, 2020 - Another great showing. Abundant stem-y and spicy fruit balanced by nice acidity and a dusty limestone background. This is drinking very well now. The tannins are fine and gentle. The earthy, limestone-y aspect gains intensity after a few days from the re-corked bottle, at which point drinking this wine feels like licking a rock.

March 23, 2019 - Fantastic wine. Voluptuous fruit backed by 2007 acidity. Lots of well-integrated stem spice. A prominent taste of limestone on the palate adds complexity. This is drinking well now and better than many wines from vintages with higher pedigree.
