Community Tasting Notes 16

  • Thief Does not like this wine: 84 points

March 26, 2023 - Flat nose almost completely lacking fruit. Almost seemed oxidized (not TCA) from the start. Only flattened and soured more with time. A real disappointment and similar to my prior notes from
    Bottles from the same lot.

September 10, 2021 - Very strong oak, lots of spice, but very thin body lacking fruit and completely out of balance.

November 23, 2018 - This was lingering in storage. PnP. Two small droplets of seepage beside the cork. Color is bricked lighter ruby red with a significant stripe of orange at the edge. Reticent cherry and cranberry aromas with some funk and herbal notes. Blowing off enough odd aromas at first that this comes across as on the slope of decline. The initial taste has red fruit, funk, some raisin and oxidized notes. After another 5 minutes or so the oxidized note is reduced and there is a note of astringency on the finish. Although the wine composed itself into a better state, it still came across as beyond its drinking window and we did not finish the bottle.

July 12, 2017 - PNP. Cork perfect. Color ruby slightly bricking. Nose has tone and cranberry earth. Swishing shows strawberry and earth supported by acid and some tannin. Sipping shows polish. Med length smooth finish that is red berries. Very nice, but I think will hold at this stage for awhile.

  • Pinot And Pizza Likes this wine: 91 points

May 7, 2017 - Took to my buddies house to listen to some classic rock and eat wood fired pizzas. The wine appeared light in color while pouring but settled into a more ruby tint with pink edges on the glass. We agree with strawberry and floral notes on the nose. Snorting would have been inappropriate but we considered. Subtle on the approach, but deepens as it traverses the palate. Medium bodied. Having decanted for a bit, the wine carried consistent structure throughout. If we had more, we would drink it.
