Community Tasting Notes 9

April 22, 2012 - Not a great Barbaresco but has fleshed out more or less since last tasted. At first look, seemed to be too old by the color - almost brownish - the deception of Nebbiolo that repeats. Nebbiolo roses if you will on the nose with considerable finesse across the palate with a very nice finish. Not remotely a hint of oxidation. That said, this wine has been remarkably well stored. Its future in my view is now.

August 23, 2010 - Produttori Barbaresco (Braeburn Restaurant, NYC): Gorgeous mature nose. My favorite so far in terms of drinking tonight. Right at its peak!

August 23, 2010 - Produttori del Barbaresco: What every Nebbiolo lover should know (Braeburn Restaurant): The 1990 Produttori del Barbaresco Rio Sordo Riserva was the least favorite of from all the 1990s. This wine left me feeling as if it never found its place between ripeness or finesse. The nose showed dark fruit with brown sugar, yet it had a freshness to it that was very inviting. On the palate I found red cherry and cedar, but it was a bit muddled and with a tannic finish. Honestly, it may not have been great, but it was still enjoyable.

December 25, 2008 - A little sediment and acidity becoming more pronounced. Would drink up soon. A decent effort.

February 13, 2008 - To me the least impressive of the 1990 Produttori wines I've been tasting. Very correct, but lighter in color, less depth and complexity.
Probably closer to the basic Produttori Barbaresco than the single vineyard bottlings. But still a fine wine.
