December 18, 2022 - A private pre-Christmas Lunch with Friends: Eleventh bottle from a full case purchased at auction in 2009. A very good bottle. Correct colour and aromatic profile for age, still fresh and minerally on the palate, powerful and concentrated, lots of grippy oak on the finish. More honey and spices on the nose on the second day, but the palate remains energetic, with steely acidity. Real Grand Cru authority, although perhaps not a model of elegance.

August 18, 2022 - WWC White Burgundy Blind (Fort Orange Club, Albany, NY): Similar to the 2002, but not quite as stunning. Actually more mature. A wonderful, complex wine, but somewhat in the shadow of the 2002. Larry K guessed that this was a 2004, but everyone thought the 2002 was much younger.

December 24, 2021 - xmas eve dinner of walleye with a cheese plate, started with lemon and apple, with air there was caramel and chalk… then into darker brown butter toffee… this was a really nice wine that unfurled slowly… still has some time

November 3, 2020 - Tenth bottle from a case purchased at auction in 2009. Over the years there have been good bottles and more mediocre ones, and this one belongs to the latter category. Very evolved light golden colour; structurally still intact but with tired flavours and rather dominant oak on the finish.

January 30, 2018 - Fireworks for January: plethora of top wines with great friends (Black Salt Restaurant, Washington D.C.): It at first seemed just a bit tired, a bit dog eared, as compared to the ... 1995! There is density but it seems to convey a most “obvious” palate. Old vines, it is said. This is flavorful but the least subtle of the bunch. A bit hot on the finish, as well.

(Domaine / Maison Vincent Girardin Corton-Charlemagne Quintessence) Pale canary yellow color; big nose, with lime, sweet grapefruit, vanilla oak and mineral notes; well delineated and structured sweet lemon palate with good acidity, big but not heavy; medium-plus finish
