April 7, 2021 - Spot on aged CA Cab. Delicious and nuanced.

March 26, 2021 - Still excellent. Full bodied, very soft tannins but still good structure. Plenty of fruit. Held up very well.

April 4, 2020 - The wine looks garnet colored. The legs are medium. There is moderate sediment in the bottle. It smells like cedar and cinnamon. It tastes like clove and cinnamon. The body is medium/full. The wine has smooth texture. The wine finishes medium. The wine has low acidity.

January 22, 2017 - This is not in any danger of being over the hill but mature and a real pleasure to drink. Huge black fruits with little tannin. I have always loved these wines. My last one from this vintage.

July 8, 2014 - smooth tannin, aromatic, mature but no longer lush fruit. Perfect with bbq steak. Last bottle (sigh).

Rockss and Fruit

(Rafanelli Cabernet Sauvignon) Wow! This absolutely blew me away.I was not prepared for how good this was going to be. Explosive nose of confectionary fruit along with some nice lavender and dark cassis. The palate was profound with amazing fruit intensity and beautiful structure. Very powdery tannins and absolutley stunning balance. So pure. None of that heavy, oaky, extract stuff that costs $200 a bottle . . . just a great example of Dry Creek Cabernet and I might say one of the best Cabernets I have ever had from CA. at any pricepoint. Stunning. The finish lasted forever and had a dash of that confectionary fruit quality that can ruin a wine sometimes (Australian shiraz) or add just the right amount of complexity. Sick!
