September 22, 2012 - Notes poivrées, fruits noirs
    Vin rond, ample et puissant.
    Assez lourd.
Bon vin a boire dès maintenant

August 2, 2012 - Wonderful! Full bodied, strong and structured tannins, epitome of classic garrique undertones both on the nose and palate. This is why I love wines from the Languedoc. Will buy the remainder left in the store for sure.

February 29, 2012 - Long time fans (LOL) know I'm not likely to buy a wine that explicitly mentions grenache on the label, but I got sold on this one by a source I respect. In fact, the label speaks for itself-70% syrah, 20% grenache, 10% carignan. There's also a very consumer-friendly commentary that's worth repeating here: "Juicy and sinewy with ride (sic), broad flowers (sic) of red plums, pepper and raspberry. Very sculpted on the finish, with plenty of Asian spice flavors. Drink now through 2012." I don't know about you but I love to ride broad flowers, and I love transparent labeling that tells me right there in black and white it's time to drink up.

Ok, let's calm down. The wine is labeled 14% but it actually seems like less to me. Dark crimson color, nose a melange of red and black fruits, a little Rhone-like smoky bacon, and shoe polish. Generous enough in the mouth, yet it feels like the fruit never really gets both oars in the water, whatever that means. In other words, it's surprisingly short where you might expect it to be ripe and generous and ends in a somewhat chalky finish. This restraint creates a nice tension, but given that it apparently will turn into a pumpkin on 1/1/13, I can't assume it's going to be any better than it is now, so I'm left wanting more.
