May 10, 2021 - Very dry crumbly cork. It took some effort to extract the cork using various cork screws. Nose: Bacon, pepper, earthy. Body is medium plus. I can feel the alcohol but not too much. Very good acidity. Mouth: Great sour plum, basalmic, sweet/sour interplay, later some green tobacco with a long, sour plummy finish. I brought this recently wanting to try older syrahs. This one was a speculative buy based on the CT drink dates but it is a really still enjoyable wine. Thanks to CPSCHOEFF's review I was inspired to take a chance on buying it and was very pleased.

March 9, 2019 - Brief notes, lots of wines...Deep opaque purple, loads of olive and smoked meat on the nose. Palate is full of black and blue fruit, savory complement, present but integrated tannin. Rich but balanced syrah, and the favorite of the crowd against Guillaume Gilles Combe de Chaillot Cornas (although I picked the Cornas).

What surprised everyone was that this wine, a 2003, was drinking just as youthful and fresh as the 2012 Cornas. Aging very well and showing no signs of decline.

July 2, 2018 - Similar experience to my January notes, noticed a bit more green on the palate.

May 9, 2018 - Ruby edged opaque purple. Aromas are bountiful green olive tapenade, rich olive oil, oregano, Black Forest fruit. Flavors charcoal spine supporting blue fruit, returning to graphite/granite surrounded by fruit, game on the back end. Wonderful. Excellent. Drank over a long evening with Delas Hermitage, this was immensely more enjoyable and interesting.

March 12, 2018 - Oh, hell yes! This wine showed wonderfully. Cork and wine in perfect condition, and the aromatics were instantly cranking: blackberry and blueberry topped in lots of salami, green olives, bacon fat, smoked meat, charcoal. Big on the palate but velvety tannins and moderating acidity make for a balanced wine. Still some blueberry fruit, but this is all about the meaty, savory, spicy qualities at this point. Tons of green olives, bacon fat, pepperoni, salami, violets, dusty earth, charcoal dust. Lovely, delicious stuff that paired very well with some Peruvian chicken. Really impressive how awesome old Copains are still showing.
