May 18, 2016 - Consumed over 2 days (vacuvined), note from day 2. Nose: Medium expressiveness, seems slightly off (hints of wet cardboard), however there are positives on the nose also such as saddle leather, candied fruit - two parts raspberry and one part blackberry, and a little Asian spice. Palate: Medium-full bodied, creamy mouth-feel, sweet fruit attack, definite high alcohol burn through the mid-palate and back-end. Finish: Medium length dominated by raspberry liqueur. I'm not quite sure what to make of this - it's definitely dominated by high alcohol yet there are some redeeming characteristics. Overall it is somewhat disjointed and it's best years are past.

November 9, 2014 - An evening with friends and a lot of wine (Chris and Renee's Home): Not for me. The nose is raisins. The Palate is robitussin. It does have a nice texture though. Too much heat on the finish. Someone said 18+% Alc. I suspect, at best, this needed to be drunk on release. YMMV. I may be being too hard on it, but at this point in the evening this was difficult to drink for me.

August 24, 2014 - We poured thru and aerator, nose was fruit, color was deep, palate was a bit funky and opened to jam and coca cola flavors. Finish was decent but again definitely cola. Perhaps the bottle was starting to go south. It just didn't come together. My wife and daughter thought is was good hence the rating. I have had a bunch of R Chateau wines and this has been my least favorite.

June 2, 2013 - Really interesting wine. Nose if fairly muted, although the 18.6% ABV shows up after a little while. The color is kind of a slightly bricked garnet red which makes me think Rhone-clone when I first look at it, but the muted nose argues that it's not going to be a Rhone style wine. The palate is all new world - big, clean fruit with a sweet oak influence. It's actually pretty well balanced considering the high ABV. Falls into the camp of "I wish I had a few more".

July 8, 2012 - Quiet a pleasant way of getting kicked in the head. 18.6%!! It does taste hot, but not that hot...
