October 26, 2017 - Same btl as R&Rler. Another remarkably youthful red Burg at age 26! Rich, concentrated with plenty of spice, mineral and dark raspberry. This still has plenty of mileage but not sure how much it will improve?

October 26, 2017 - A Lot of Older Gems at The Kenwood: A Burgasm & a Few Bordeaux (The Kenwood, Mpls, MN): Medium dark red color. PNP, drank 1 glass over an hour. Drank this next to a '93 Drouhin C-M 1er which was quite reticent tonight The Leroy Volnay was very aromatic, strong floral perfume, smoke, scorched earth, cherry, herb de Provence, cherry sweet tart. The plate captures the nose and feels surprisingly young and deep still. Really good. Plenty of life hear. 93+ to 94pts.

December 3, 2016 - A 40th Birthday Celebration (River North, Chicago IL): Small glass, brief note. This bottle had been opened a day (?) earlier, 2/3 consumed, then refrigerated. Lots of fresh fruit with subtle spice and floral hints. Good combination of black and red cherry I really enjoyed. Less typically "Leroy" on the nose than on the palate. Very enjoyable, plus holding up great.

May 4, 2014 - This took about 20min to get going. The slight funk blew off to reveal outstanding dark fruit against a backdrop of fresh red fruit. The palate matched with spice and earth. Great depth and length. Pretty with excellent grip. Fine now, but will last.

October 23, 2003 - Bold blackberry and black cherry on the nose, then continuing to the plate. Nose also shows very charming floral aromatics. Somewhat darker fruit to start than I'd normally expect from Volnay, but the fruit seemed to lighten up and transition to more red cherry in the course of the evening, bringing this back to classic Volnay after a few hours that seemed like it was visiting Pommard.
