Community Tasting Notes 5

    July 16, 2016 - 14% alcohol. Total production 12,170 bottles.

Somewhat translucent black cherry color with a hint of developed figgy hue towards the rim. Quite powerful and nicely developed nose with aromas of sweet dark berries, mature pruney tones, a little bit of juicy cassis tones, light herbal minty notes, gently oaky hints of toasty sweet wood and chocolatey mocha along with a touch of succulent plummy character. The wine is rich, full-bodied and quite soft on the palate with enjoyably developed and complex flavors of ripe blackcurrants, sweet oak spice, some aromatic dark chocolate tones, light pruney notes, a little bit of dried dates and a hint of earthy, slightly peppery spice. The wine is maybe lacking a bit in the structure department with its medium acidity and rather gentle, well-resolved tannins, but it still manages to come across as balanced, not flabby. The finish is developed, spicy and quite complex with long flavors of cassis, ripe plummy tones, a little bit of brooding oak spice, light mocha tones and a sweet, pruney hint of dried fruits.

For a ripe, modern - and relatively inexpensive - Spanish red, this has aged quite nicely. As I wrote back in 2012, this wine really doesn't feel that much Spanish in style, but nevertheless it shows quite nice sense of development and integration. The oak tones have integrated quite nicely with the fruit and overall the wine reminds me of a modern new world Bordeaux red with some age. Seeing how soft the wine is starting to get now, I'd say there isn't point in aging the wine any further - time to drink up. Priced according to its quality at 17,08€.

June 22, 2012 - Very deep, quite opaque ruby color. Rich and spicy nose with aromas of sunny dark fruit, cassis and some cedary oak. Fullbodied in the mouth with sunny fruit flavors of ripe raspberry and blackcurrant, some spicy oak, a little vanilla and black pepper. Decent in the acid department, but quite easy and soft with the tannins. Mid-length finish with flavors of fresh blackcurrant, pepper, some blackberry and notes of spicy and woody oak.

Modern and easily approachable Spanish red, but not in a bad way (as it is lacking heavy extraction, jammy fruit or flabby body). Stylistically not that Spanish, but has nice balance and complexity. Enjoyable red for grilled foods. A decent buy at 17,08€.

February 19, 2011 - Ripe raspberry puree on the nose with current leaf, black pepper and fresh cut cedar.
Really fresh palate. Dark fruits dominate with mint, menthol, current leaf and black pepper notes. This full bodied wine is nicely balanced with moderate plus acidity and a long plump finish.
    Drink now - 2018
    Outstanding Quality. 91 pts.

November 19, 2010 - Initially closed on the nose, an hour later there are blackcurrant and chocolate aromas with vanilla notes. A bit alcoholic on the palate, it´s almost sweet with violet and raspberry flavours, with red licorice and coffee notes.
Easy and pleasant to drink, probably most people will find it exciting for its great QPR, pairing perfectly with iberian "salchichón".
