December 28, 2020 - An elegant miniature by today's standards, but fully what kabinett was always expected to be before climate change altered perceptions and expectations. Still showing some primary fruit, but also a bit of oily development. Spice lingers on the finish, as if it's been dusted across the top. Lovely, drinkable wine.

March 23, 2019 - Italian night (Washington, DC): Peachy and plump on the nose and palate. Loving the honey-mineral contrast. Still lots of time ahead, but this showed very nicely.

March 7, 2016 - Well hello there! Six years since the last time I tried this wine, and it has evolved in a beautiful way. It still has a primary fruit, focused on lime zest and red berries. Where things get interesting is the evolving aromatics and flavors of brown spices, anise seed, dried flowers and crushed rocks. There is a touch of creaminess on the palate, offset by refreshing acidity on the finish. Youthful sweetness has backed off, though it is still a touch sweeter than halbtrocken on entry. Ultimately it finishes dry, as that acidity just wipes the palate clean. Early maturity here, so drinking any time over the next several years is recommended. It's amazing that this was $13 on release. What a value!

March 1, 2013 - (2 of 2) Styrene nose. Sweet and spicy w/food. Citrusy and very ripe.

July 10, 2012 - Popped and poured. Faint aromas of pear and melon. Restrained, pure flavors show white fruits and lemon. Hints of slate and minerals in the mildly sweet finish. This is good old fashioned kabinett. Lacks the structure and tension that you find in the best Mosel rieslings, but top drawer quality nonetheless. Excellent value under $20.
