November 11, 2017 - Cedar tones showing through from oak use, but still showing usefully with firm tannins, bright acidity and ripe fruit. no rush to drink this one up. still many years ahead

December 19, 2010 - Low fill, but cork in great shape. Scarcely developed, but it wasn't the blackest wine of the night either. I enjoy the acidity and structure of these wines, but wish they were a spot more forgiving, and had more potential for both primary and secondary aromatics.

November 8, 2007 - Not decanted. Really intense blackberry and slate on the nose. Palate with initial layered fruit and minerally acidity that clips off with soft tannins. Over the evening the finish balanced out to a more grainy round tannin structure with some nice length. This was terrific with a frittata with Spanish chorizo.

December 22, 2006 - This has integrated nicely. Still dark in color with dark cherry an blackberry fruit, but now showing more tar, coffee and licorice notes. The rough tannins have mellowed and now the dominant palate/finish features are a terrific slate-like minerality and focused acidity. Make a note to self to seek out the 2004.

December 20, 2004 - Diner at home of chicken enchiladas. Medium-deep ruby color to rim. Nose of black cherry and fig. On the palate, tart cherries, blackberries, espresso and a hint of tar. Good structure remains, but drinking nicely now. Well-made and enjoyable, but lacking the added concentration or complexity to be truly exceptional.
