December 9, 2023 - First shock - the smell! I don't recall anything like this in any wine not only ChdP. What?
Cocoa, tar, a ton of herbs and spices, wet earth, licorice, kirsch( so nice and strong), fresh leather, menthol (?), sweet black fruits. Enough.
Second shock - I don't recall wine where aromas were better then flavors! Don't take me wrong - they are still great but not so good as smell. A lot of herbs and spices up front. I like it. They "push" the wine into dark, ghostly forest ( sorry for this "poetic" trajectory)
Nice black cherry and plum are here too.
Orange and red currant too, especially in the finish, that is, unfortunately, too short.
Great vivid acidity and soft, grainy tannins.
Another one of a kind experience during my endless search for wine Holy Grail.
Third glass and the finish is much, much longer now. Spice is mixed with black fruits. Nice
Matter of fact all flavors got an extra kick.
I have no choice, but to upgrade this wine from 94 to 95
    Powerful juice!
2007 were extraordinary. early maturing and accessible vintage with 98 points according to the WA Vintage Guide!

November 9, 2022 - Ninety-minute decant as a result of a lesson learned on 11-18-2021. This sped up the development of the wine at the table but otherwise in line with the profile of that note.

November 18, 2021 - Forty-five minute decant through a screened and aerating funnel. Very slight amount of sediment. Soft red fruits during decant. After resting in the decanter, the wine was bright ruby in the bowl all the way to the rim. Initial notes showed a typical red-fruit grenache nose of strawberries and unripe raspberry with some soy sauce. Similar flavors in the mouth, and a very soft finish that was commented by all at the table. About 20 minutes thereafter, the wine changed. Bretty and almost mildewy aromas popped up and the wine firmed up as well. But wait, there is more....about another 25 minutes thereafter, the brett and mildew disappeared and much stronger red fruit aromas arose. In the mouth, wine showed deep and powerful raspberry fruit with black cherry and had acquired a nice acidic backbone, milky smooth texture and a long and lovely black licorice finish. The final stage lasted through the rest of the meal and more than held its own with a smoky Tabasco-based marinade. This bottle still had a couple of years in the tank. Next time, I will decant for 90 minutes before consuming.

October 3, 2021 - won't score because the window on this wine closed several years ago. Drink Immediately. Not much left.
