  January 29, 2012 - A very drinkable Merlot. Drank the wine a few years into its window and feel like it was definitely time to drink now. A little fruity for a merlot, but an easy sipping wine. Paired it with herbed goat cheese, camembert, and a peppered toscano.

  December 30, 2011 - Big bruiser of a wine. Fairly dark in color. Nose is dominated by cherry, vegetal notes - and alcohol. To carry an alcohol content of 14.7%, a wine needs a lot of fruit and underlying structure to balance it out. This almost pulls it off, but not quite. There's a lot of fruit here, and a good bit of acidity, but all that alcohol takes over at midpalate and makes this taste oddly thin and hot, and the heat carries over to the finish. Doesn't strike me as a very food-friendly wine, either. In many ways this reminds me of one of those high alcohol Australian Shirazes; if you like those, you might like this. I don't care for either. Interesting, but not something I'd recommend or try again.
