September 25, 2022 - From magnum. PnP
Fairly rustic nose, tobacco, leather, cigar box, and a touch of dried red fruit.
Med- body, medium acidity, medium tannin. There’s some grip this and the fruit is holding on, but this is probably on the decline. Overall the wine is good but I would drink up if you have them. -

January 22, 2021 - The wine looks amber colored. There is moderate sediment in the bottle. It smells like black currant (cassis). It tastes like black currant (cassis) and espresso. The body is light/medium. The wine has smooth texture. The wine finishes short.

April 9, 2020 - Records not handy. Think I bought a 12b case from Wine Club for 15/b about 18 years ago; this is #7, I think. Decanted with normal sediment for its age. Darker purple; fragrant cassis nose, some tartness that follow on the palate, somewhat lean showing some decline but still enjoyable, fairly good mouthfeel, though likely needs to move. Stored horizontally in a cool, dark basement since purchase. My evaluation: For me, scores on a "100-point scale" are misleading. I use a 4-category scale (perhaps with +/-)--not including flawed--which runs outstanding/notable/drinkable/poor. This is notable when considering quality, age, and price.

November 4, 2019 - Really good showing considering the ‘97 Bordeaux vintage was widely panned. Black cherries, sous bois, and a wet, dank, earthy funk drive the bouquet. The palate is structured, full bodied, and opens to dark fruit, black tea, crushed rocks, and a slight medicinal complexity. But the wine grows and evolves and the fruit comes alive after two hours in the decanter, revealing a harmony between bottle age, freshness, and Pauillac’s trademark power.

March 16, 2019 - Paperwork not handy. Bought 6b about 17 years ago for 15/b; this is the first of two tried recently. Decanted with normal sediment for its age. Dark red; mature red fruit nose with some earthiness; subdued very mature red fruit, some leather, tea, good mouthfeel. Better with food because the fruit is past prime. Stored horizontally in a cool, dark basement since purchase. My evaluation: I've stopped giving scores on a "100-point scale" as I've become less convinced that they can be meaningful to others. I use a 4-category scale (perhaps with +/-)--not including flawed--which runs outstanding/notable/drinkable/poor. I considered this notable when considering quality, age, and price.
