April 11, 2014 - not much aroma, dark black current flavors but kind of flat. No complexity. med tannin. Perhaps it's too old?

  • Pedroel Likes this wine: 89 points

August 26, 2012 - Tasted side-by-side with an Altesino super Tuscan...and lost, but just by a bit. The acidity is lower, here, and more fruit forward. Probably a preference in style, for me. Very well made; very nice, overall.

April 18, 2012 - This is good but can't rate it more than an 82. Was initially tempted to rate it lower. This does not come together at all and a bit of heat dominates the nose and taste even though it is supposedly only 13.9% alcohol. My comments are based on the bottle being opened for 2 hours or more. This Prima Miscela is composed of: 60% Sangiovese, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Cabernet Franc. My opinion, this blend just does not come together well. Maybe I held this too long and it does not age well but I placed the drinking window in CT based on what the winery said. Not particularly a fan of this.

April 16, 2012 - Notes of black cherries, blackberries, black pepper with a touch of vanilla on the finish. Excellent!

  • Pedroel Likes this wine: 90 points

December 29, 2011 - Tasted side-by-side with Brian Carter Tuttorosso...and lost, but just by a bit. More cab flavors, here, and less acidity. Nice wine, with good, full flavor and a fine, long finish. Our friend, with less wine experience, preferred the Covington. "I'm in LOVE" she says.
