January 1, 2019 - Tastes of dark jammy fruits; cherry and blackcurrant, mixed with old leather and damp timbers. Dark and clear, long on thr palate with subtle tanin. Beautiful drinking once again.

December 31, 2017 - Strong burgandy colour, very dark and opaque. Very strong and complex flavour; tastes of vanilla, tobacco, very mineral-y, chestnuts, flinty top note. Odours of marzipan, cinnamon, cigars. Strong dark blackcurrant fruit punch of an aftertaste with smooth tanins.

January 26, 2012 - Lucked on a really great bottle. Base of neck fill but cork was perfect, out in one piece. From the outset it was singing, minimal bottle stink that blew off quickly. Aromatics were a standout, lifted red fuits with a hint of mint. Tannins all resolved and it was silky smooth. Plenty of layers of flavour, more red fruited with subtle spices. Just gorgeous.

December 20, 2011 - Christmas Lunch (Golden Century, Sydney): Orange tinged rim with predominant dark red colour. Savoury nose with some smoked meats, briar and sweet red fruits. There is great carry on the palate with some fruit sweetness still coming through. Lovely fully mature wine.

August 5, 2011 - (after 5 hours decanting) Follow-up comments on the earlier tasting note.

Perfume has really bloomed, showing classic Cab Sauv vegetals and stalkiness; just the slightest hint of green pepper. Mouthfeel has also grown, with a slightly more defined tannin structure and spicy acidity, but again, still fine and soft - nothing really out of place at all. Some spice now showing, with hints of nutmeg, cola, cinnamon - almost medicinal chest. Longer finish now, with some cracked pepper showing.

Thoroughly enjoyable and a great personality to meet.
