April 19, 2024 - Drank together with 1994 Domaine Jean-Louis Chave Hermitage. As much as one would think the Chave Hermitage was going to run away with the prize, the comparison was much closer than expected. Medium to deep garnet in colour, Dark red fruit and smoke on the nose, some earthy notes. The palate started out little disjointed, with tannins still notable. Over the three hours we took to drink the wine the palate harmonized, the wine put on weight and tannins integrated. Very enjoyable, just slightly coarser wine in comparison to the Chave. I still can’t think of a better Crozes.

July 8, 2023 - My first bottle in about 8 years and I expected to find it barely hanging on. What a surprise! Perfect cork. Deep tawny. Wood smoke, leather and earthy notes up front but the dark red and blue fruit still impressive. Palate delivers interesting tug award between the sweet fruit, acidity and tannins. Overall very good balance and decent finish. Time to drink up, I do not see this getting better, but I would not be surprised if it tasted as well in five years. Can’t think of a better Crozes.

November 27, 2022 - Smoked meat, woodsmoke, dried raspberry, cranberry, dry undergrowth, crispy bacon all featured on the nose. Translated brilliantly to the palette but on a restrained, refined way. This was amazing. I will be seeking out more vintages of this bottling.

November 26, 2022 - A medium ruby core fading to a medium garnet outer edge. Dried hedgerow, wild red berries, campfire smoke, red liquorice, and barnyard form the nose. The palate offers up the same profile only in a milder, more subdued from. Texturally soft and fully resolved yet there’s a flicker of acidity providing a touch of freshness. A superb Crozes-Hermitage with great typicity.

November 5, 2015 - From jeroboam. Slightly "dirty" on the nose with a strong barnyard character at first. This blew off with a bit of swirling in the glass, giving way to some notes of cherry fruit, sweet spices and woodsmoke. More vibrant than the 1990 Domaine de Thalabert in comparison, there is more energy and grip, still quite linear. Drinking well. 88-90
