March 29, 2015 - Dark purple with violet rim. The wonderfully complex nose gushes plum, dark cherry, violets, and olive notes. On the palate, there is ample dark fruit, violets, olives, mineral, and black pepper. Structurally, this medium-bodied wine provides ample acidity, a solid midpalate, and rounded tannins. The long finish highlights plums, pepper, and minerals. Overall, this is an absolute steal for $20 and provides textbook syrah notes of plums, violets, olives, and pepper. I thoroughly enjoyed the expressiveness of this wine, countered by the overall balance its components.

November 8, 2013 - This takes about an hour to open up. Medium bodied. Tastes a bit like syrah from a pinot maker. Well balanced, some Northern Rhone character. Lingering, if a bit subtle, finish. I think these 2008s have been my favorite of the Sandler syrahs.
