    December 25, 2023 - Deep brick red.
Aromas of blackberry, singed wood, baked earth, cinnamon, tobacco and sloe. Hint of cardboard.
Sanded dry tannins. Blackcurrant acids and walnut bitterness.
Palate of prune, blackberry jam, juniper wood, baked earth, medicinal herbs and hawthorn.
A fully mature, rustic and still lively wine with ripe yet fading dark fruit, typical woody and herbal aromas and long mineral finish.
Tasted alongside M Chiarlo, Barbaresco Asili, 2006. Compared to the matched wine, it has generous and even sweet fruit, a personality, and a wonderful chewy finish. Slightly beyond its peak. Tasted 2023.

  • no oak Does not like this wine:

June 25, 2022 - Recently purchased 2 bottles from a source I have never used before, so the conditions in which the wine has been stored are unknown. Upon opening, the cork of 1 bottle disintegrated but the other cork was fine. Both bottles tasted dirty and tired. The wine is over the hill and is not at all enjoyable.

October 29, 2020 - Definitely fading but quite enjoyable. The days of fruit and tannin are past. Drink up!
