July 30, 2011 - Older Oregon Pinots (Wildwood, Portland OR): nose: a rather dark and almost brooding nose of dark berries, dark red cherries, spice tones, herbs and perfume tones. Not necessarily expressive and pretty robust at this time

taste: medium/full bodied with medium+ acidity along with still chewy tannins and robust tones of herbs, dark red cherries, dark red berries, and spice tones

overall: this came off as still very young. I would love to see where this goes in another 5 years as it seems like it's a long haul wine.

July 30, 2011 - Old Oregon Pinot Noir - Wine Berserker off-line (Wildwood restaurant - Portland, OR): Toasted oak, strawberry pie, pepper, earth. Smells delicious! Large in the mouth, balanced flavor of baked cherries, dark caramel, mushroom and earth. Long palate with beautiful acidity keeping things together, late hitting tannin that falls right in line as this wine tapers through the finish. In a great place now but could easily stand to age longer based on the intensity and structure. Overall very delicious and right in that place where it's showing a bit of age but is still youthful, awesome. 92+

May 8, 2011 - What a surprise. Jim threw this in blind with the previous 2 wines. It was made by Jim and Patty while they were at Torii Mor. This is a big wine. Lots of extract, fruit. So well balanced. Great effort that showed quite well against the other wines.

March 27, 2011 - I don’t know what it is about this wine maker, Patricia Green, but she really knows how to bring out the raw material fruit in a way that enables it to expresses its utmost potential. Each source vineyard bottling seems to have its own unique initial expression, but she has an uncanny ability to always leave your glass smelling like a bouquet of fresh cut flowers. Without fail, my final thoughts over the last sips of all of Torii’s ‘98/’99 bottlings seem to always be one, or more of a combination of the following: “pretty, beautiful, and/or a soul-expanding experience”. This baby was no exception.

Decanted 60 minutes and drank consistently though out a 5 hour consumption. Like Inagaddadavida in a glass, in a good way; hitting the same cords of berries & flowers over and over, but with increasing intensity, deep into the evening.

Likely at its peak performance now, but will likely stay at the top of its game into 2014 before it begins to shed some of its current nose intensity that makes it so compelling.
