    April 21, 2019 - Garagiste selection. 14.5% ABV

    Color: deep dark purple
Nose: Intense; lots of dark fruit and dried berries. A little alcohol
Body/flavor: medium to full body. Gobs of dark fruit... terrific paired with Easter ham!
    Finish: lingering aftertaste.

Bottle # 344/2500. My final one -- much better than previous bottles of same vintage! Kudos!

    February 24, 2018 - Garagiste selection.
Had similar problem with cork breaking apart. Had to filter out small particles

Color: very dark purple -- almost black
Aroma: Intense, complex aromas of fresh and dried dark fruits
Body/flavor: Full body; complex flavors of dark fruit; excellent acid
    balance; tannins not apparent
    Aftertaste: long, lingering finish

    Terrific pairing with lamb stew

May 23, 2017 - Lots of tabacco, typical malbec from the country. Dusty tannin, deep, black fruits.

January 13, 2015 - Blueberry, marionberry, tart acidity, fully integrated tannins. This was really good, but glad I opened it up now. i think its time has come.

June 13, 2014 - The corkscrew pulled through the cork; the Ah-So pulled the remainder of the cork out intact. Pop and pour: A unique nose of green pea shoots and eucalyptus. Very tight on the palate, showing only hints of blackberry and strong black pepper.

This opened up after two hours of decanting, showing eucalyptus and a bit of bandaid on the nose and slightly jammy raspberry, blackberry, and a mix of black and white pepper on the palate, with notes of tobacco and earth, moderate acidity, and light drying tannins.

I have had only a few South American red wines that matched my tastes, and I had almost given up on the entire category, but this one is a winner -- a respectable wine that is made to age, and isn't overpriced. I would prefer a bit more acidity, but it is complex and interesting in a way that the cheap stuff (and some of the more expensive) is not. At $20/bottle I would buy more, though the original retail price of over $60 was far too high. Too bad this was my only bottle.

Edit: This was just as good the second day as it was on the first -- it's far from being over the hill. The drinking window is open with a decant, but I'm guessing this won't pass its peak for several years yet.
