July 22, 2021 - This bottle was still delicious at the end of its drinking window -- definitely would not hold on to these any longer. Residual soft tannins; dark stewed fruit; dried petals - hint of rose petals. Demonstrated the skill and genius of Thackrey.

March 27, 2020 - decanted an hour before
deep hue but not as impenetrable as young ones can be
aromatically soft - no lavender or minty eucalyptus

it started very thin and tart and I set it aside for another hour
I had some cheese and still not much joy but after a piece of ham there was beautiful synergy
I feel this is at its peak and unlikely to give more BUT is very fun if you are enjoying a smokey meat or perhaps a smokey cheese

July 5, 2018 - This wine went well with grilled burgers and reindeer sausage. Bold fruit, well integrated tannin. Very nice. Drink or hold.

June 10, 2017 - 2017-06-10: A bit austere and backwards tonight. Sealed with Argon gas and will revisit in a couple of days. Could be slightly corked but not sure. No score.

2017-06-19: Well, after more than one week sealed under a veil of Argon gas, the wine totally sings from the glass. All the backwards reductive tones are totally gone. The nose now boasts of deep intense dark fruit accompanied by fresh flowers, orange zest, classy cedar wood, dark chocolate and a slight tone of raspberry jam. The palate is just adorable with profound balance and a soft, velvety like end-palate. Tannins, fruit and acidity are perfectly integrated, but this effort has a lot of structure and texture. It will last for a long time given proper rest in the cellar. A total treat tonight!

January 28, 2017 - An absolutely brilliant and quite astonishing effort from at star producer which has his very own philosophy about wine-making. This 2007 Sirirus Petite Sirah exhibits deep profound dark fruit accompanied cedar wood, raspberry jam and creamy chocolate. There is nothing left of the greenish fresh herbs found in earlier tastings. The palate is lovely with a pristine balance and integration. Of course there are some tannins speaking up, but the overall impression is still one of balance and silkiness. Just like the tannins, acidity is nicely integrated too. Yet this effort has a lot of structure and texture and many years to go in the cellar. However, it is certainly a treat tonight too!
