December 22, 2016 - Feels like a pretty different bottle than 2 years ago. Although still not that forgiving. Dark berry fruit. Not sweet fruit. More of an angular wine overall. Some chewy tannin. Balance feels out of whack. Or just no mid-palate. Like being made to eat just the peel of the orange. Anyway, I'd still say wait and see for intellectual sake, but I'm not sure his will come back together.

October 11, 2014 - the fruit is turning the corner big time. This has been open for a couple of hours now, but the fruit is fading. the earthy, under brush elements are coming up big time. not tired, but almost to bed.

September 19, 2014 - more mineral than fruit on the nose. dark berry fruit nose, but not big and boysenberry. has a wild red berry appeal, drinks rather elegant for NZ.

April 9, 2014 - nice light but complex nose, spiced fruit
nice hit of fruit but not a fleshy wine in the mouth. leans out very quick
finish is short the tannins show up in the finish and they are bitter
It did hold up to sea bass in a butter sauce with asparagus .
Do not need to drink this again. -

April 7, 2014 - This is a stunning PN, better than most Burgs at this price point (USD27). Mind you, I'm not at all a Burg head. The very high score from outstanding deliciousness rather than complexities and layers.
Ruby color, transparent but intense.
Nose is of beautiful PN red-berry notes, a balanced dollop of oak and some of granny's toilet funk. Quite attractive.
On the palate it is low to medium bodied, intense, very very red-berry PN, balanced with beautifully restrained PN fruit and the PN bitterness in the lime light. The structure is mid-way in between transparent and fruit-spattered. Enough transparency to show off some PN tricks and a loamy, clay character that is beautiful. Oak is not completely integrated yet...
Darn this is delicious!
Should develop and integrate better over some time.
A glass for lunch, the rest of the btl scheduled for later this week.
